(This page is semi-satire i switch to character analysis near the end despite not planning to?!)
- you guys told me he's cool what the hell
- I saw an artist who compares him to Wolfwood all the time, accepted it without a word
- I relayed that info to my roommate at the time who made me watch JJK
- She didn't correct me despite having seen tristamp with me
- TO NICHOLAS D. WOLFWOOD??? THE COERCED KILLER WHO ONLY PLAYED ALONG TO PROTECT THE ORPHANAGE? CULT VICTIM WOLFWOOD? MY BABY KITTEN, WOLFWOOD?
You may find yourself asking:
Wait, is this a case of
It certainly is an element of it, but I'm normal enough not to throw tantrums over those. I am capable of
- His behaviour in the five (5) episode long flashback is eerily similar to like, your average 16 year old boy who went down ass first into the youtube alt right pipeline
- He displays an incredible lack of backbone in that it took him no more than two months ("that summer") to go from "Sorcerers should protect the weak :)" to "I will commit global genocide." Call him a slug the way hes an invertabrae
- "Damn monkeys" he might as well be wearing an "I am a nazi" t-shirt god damn
- Tired of being a sorcerer? We have a solution to that, ask your schoolmate, nerd:
- tired of what he does as a sorcerer
- "I'm going to suffer in silence until I crack"
- Wipes out an entire small village
- "Gojo I'm leaving to start a cult"
- Tries to kill a kid, gets his ass whooped big time
- DIES
- tired of what he does as a sorcerer
-"Maybe I should try getting a normal job"
-Finance job doesn't work out
- "Gojo I'm going back"
- Sets healthy boundaries, clocks out at 5pm PERIOD
- DIES
- The guy who wanted your dick
-The two kids you raised to do numb shit like scream at Sukuna
-The Bodyhopper whore with 5000 bastard children who had his sight on your powerset since forever and took the first opportunity to move into the conveniently already hollow empty husk that was your brain cavity
I'm gonna break character real quick dear reader, because this one's personal. Unfortunately I fully understand Gojo's behavior. If my best friend, who I trusted, pulled this sort of shit I would probably also not wring their neck on sight anyway. Having a personal history with someone makes people overlook an insane amount of bullshit, including but not limited to, in extreme cases, a history of acting in a way that is politically rancid, and/or leaving like that.
Abandonment trauma makes you blame yourself, and it makes past good memories shine bright, only overshadowed by the only now noticed signs that something was off, that you could have done something, that something could have been done. What if someone had noticed that he was slipping? What if he had reached out? Radicalism is a monster, it takes friends and loved ones away as fast as any disease, causes misery to everyone, even the person experiencing it, and it takes a lot to bring someone back before they are far too gone.
Day by day a friendship's dead weight is pulled forward, leftover affection rotting like food left on the top shelf of the fridge.
yet still, the dick could not have been that good.
Y'all, this man would be Knives. I don't mean this in a bad way, (Knives is so interesting!) but he's so much like Knives.
Knives did what he did out of fear that what happened to Tesla would happen to him, and god fucking forbid Vash. Learning that a trusted adult would do that to another child broke him irrepairably, and so that trusted adult, and everyone else who could hurt him, his brother, and all their poor exploited sisters, had to go.
Geto's whole deal is that he wants cursed spirits gone desparately: the people who are responsible for their creation are ungrateful, they can't even see them, they hurt children, (children who are like him) and removing them would, to him, fix these things, as well as free his best friend from the responsibility of being the "strongest sorcerer."
I wanted to also point out the similarity between the backstory of those two little girls and Legato Bluesummers, but I quickly realised that Knives actually loses points here: He would have killed Legato if he didn't beg to work for him. Rather than this, Geto's behviour in the equivalent scene highlights a different similarity between them: the desire to lift up people like themselves through a misguided, self-righteous attempt to do good. Their sense of morality is utterly fucked.
As I said, I get Gojo, and this still holds through when I compare him to Vash: despite everything, both still love their respective high school bff or twin sibling.
The reason the Wolfwood comparision actually pisses me off, is because he simply doesn't work like that. He never spiralled that way, he never wanted to commit mass murder for any reason. He was fully a victim of Knives' cult, as I said, coerced through the threat of other kids ending up dead, or worse, like him. That is why he killed for the EOM, that's why he guided Vash (and eventually learned to trust his ideals.) That is a lot different than coming up with the plan to kill people on his own in order to also protect people.
I actually hate that by making this joke character bashing page I managed to trick myself into thinking about the guy coherently like shut the fuck up I came here to write the anime boy Jurgen Leitner Rant. My dear former roommate whom i mention near the beginning also told me once that Geto is Megumi's dad. I don't know why she did that. I was at s1. She gained nothing out of this. Ever since I've found out that it's actually that the guy possessing him is Yuji's mom kind of. This god damn series is taking years off of my life and i havent read the manga. If i start projecting on to Gojo even more I will burst into flames
